Additionally, it remains uncertain whether struggles with facial recognition indicate a more extensive ventral stream issue. This online study analyzed data from a face recognition task, a glass pattern detection task, and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) involving 16 participants with CVI and 25 control subjects. Participants additionally completed a portion of the CVI Inventory questions to subjectively report areas of visual perception they found challenging. Participants with CVI exhibited significantly impaired face recognition performance compared to control subjects, a difference not seen in the glass pattern task. The face recognition task demonstrated a marked rise in threshold values, a lower proportion of correct answers, and increased latency in reaction time. These effects were not replicated in the glass pattern condition. Following age-based adjustments, the sub-scores on the SDQ related to emotional and internalizing problems manifested a considerable increase among participants with CVI. By examining the construction of risk in reproduction, including childcare, we see how a moral order of motherhood is established. Defining 'irresponsible' reproductive behaviors and their associated dangers may further marginalize those already marginalized.
