In addition, genes that encode functionally equivalent proteins can have different names in different organisms. To meet this need, the Plant-Associated Microbe Gene Ontology (PAMGO) consortium [8] was formed in 2004 to develop GO terms that describe microbe-host interactions, in collaboration with the GOC.
