“Background The anamorphic fungus Beauveria bassiana (Bals.) Vuill. (teleomorph: Cordyceps bassiana) is the Chloroambucil most widely used mycopesticide for the biological control of insect pests [1, 2], formulations based on this fungus being available for commercial use [3]. However, there are still many unresolved questions in our understanding of the life of fungal entomopathogens, including their population characteristics and relationships between genotypes and habitats or host-pathogen interactions [4]. For predictable and successful application of biological control agents (BCAs) to control diseases and pests in natural environments, their biology and ecology must be well understood [5–7]. The morphological features of conidia are common tools for identification in Beauveria.
