By systematically varying the roasting conditions (time, 5-40 minutes; temperature, 150-170°C) in different combinations within a ventilated oven, the potential differences in the target volatile fraction related to the raw samples' roasting process were explored. Furthermore, reference templates were designed, using the HS-GC GC-FID method, for each of the four food samples examined, and these templates were used to classify the specimens based on the presence or absence of volatile substances. Across various domains, the process of determining a course of action is frequently complicated by the limited availability of expert advice. Nevertheless, the absence of a sufficient quantity of expert opinions would prevent the solutions from being robust. Consequently, a methodology called MOSY, for the generation of synthetic opinions, has been developed to furnish a robust Fuzzy Expert System (FES), by specifying N s r, the number of synthetic experts associated with each rule. A normal distribution, modeling the judgment of a human expert, provides the foundation for MOSY's opinion on each of these artificially developed experts. The FES, in a similar fashion, constructs an opinion by using an antecedent vector, with its entries selected randomly from a uniform distribution. By optimizing weights for fuzzy rules, the system forces agreement between synthetic and human opinion vectors, these vectors originating from all the rules and the corresponding number of experts. Expert opinions in two different domains—industrial development projects (IDP) and passenger car performance (PCP)—were compared to the performance of the weight-optimized MOSY. Analysis of the results indicated a strong correlation between synthetic and human expert opinions, ranging from 914% to 980% on average across five outcomes of the IDP, based on 5 N s r 250 data points. For PCP, the correlations, accordingly, exhibited a fluctuation between 856% and 908% across the two performance measures for 10 N s r 150. Due to the pronounced correlations, MOSY's potential to produce synthetic expert opinions for a robust FES becomes evident, especially when sufficient human experts are not available. MOSY's predictive accuracy was evaluated by comparing it to human expert opinions gathered from two separate fields. A strong correlation was found between MOSY's synthetic opinions and the human expert assessments.
