Based
on physical characteristics, bacteria producing extracellular DNase were isolated on selective media. 16S rDNA sequences were obtained identifying isolates as bacteria belonging to Aeromonas spp., Serratia spp., Shewanella spp., and Rahnella spp. Aeromonas spp. were the predominant bacteria isolated in this study; this statistically suggests that Aeromonas spp. are dominant in DNase-producing bacterial populations on catfish tissue. Results obtained in this study suggest that extracellular DNase-producing bacteria play a large role Bafilomycin A1 in vitro in catfish spoilage and support the need for further research on the role of Aeromonas spp. in fish spoilage. Rahnella spp. was isolated from catfish fillets in this study and identified, for the first time, as DNase producing bacteria.”
“The crosslinking under pressure of a mixture of
novolak with melamine resin has been investigated by means of several techniques, including differential scanning calorimetry, thermal gravimetric analysis, X-ray diffraction, and infrared spectroscopy. The crosslinking of the mixture essentially follows two steps. The former occurs at 150 degrees C and leads to resin networks composed of di- and trisubstituted phenols without significant reaction with melamine polymers. The latter, at 200 degrees C, mainly involves the direct crosslinking of melamine polymers with disubstituted phenols. High pressure, applied to the reaction cell, slows down the crosslinking AR-13324 extent, by inhibiting the formation of trisubstituted phenols. This is probably due to the formation of gaseous by-products of crosslinking. Moreover, a certain structuring effect due to high pressure was observed by means of AZD5153 X-ray diffraction. “Objective: To document the pattern of and ability of sickle cell anemic patients to manage painful crises at home. Subject and methods: Confirmed HbSS patients or caregivers attending
the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Enugu, Nigeria, were interviewed, using a questionnaire, on their last painful episode. Results: The limbs were involved in all ages, but involvement of the joints, ribs, and spine was uncommon in patients under 5 years old. Pain started between 6 pm and 12 midnight in 33.3%. Analgesics with or without massage or hydration was mostly used at home. 29% of subjects required hospitalization. Conclusion: Patients need better access to more potent analgesics to reduce the burden on the health system.”
“The purpose of this study was to develop a membrane filtration method to isolate uninuclei conidium of Aspergillus oryzae, then the method was adopted to develop a transformation system of A. oryzae. A. oryzae 3.951 contained 1-4 nuclei in each conidium. The percentages of uninucleate and binucleate conidia were approximately 16.15 and 74.22%, respectively.
